Below are real people all over the U.S.A.
complaining about the Yellow pages and their sales tactics, read these and
I guarantee this will never happen with www.eastexasdirectory.com.
We will post information supplied by you the
Small Business owner and deal directly with you. I have heard from allot of
businesses that this happens everyday across Texas.
In early August 2006, I
received an envelope from The-Internet
-Yellowpages.com. Usually, those types of
solicitations are trashed unopened, but for some reason, I opened this one. In
it was a bill for $379.99 for a two year advertisement listing. I called the toll
free number listed for “Inquiries?".
Michelle (?) called me back and told me we had ordered their service on July 20,
2006. I told her we had not. She told me to hold while she checked
“verification" and played me a tape of someone in my office
answering “Yes" to questions such as, “Do you have the authority to
order this?", etc. I told Michelle that the person recorded had no such
authority and that any order was canceled and we would not be paying the bill.
This employee
would never authorize a four hundred dollar purchase on her own. I found out
from perusing the Rip-off Report web site that dubbing in recorded “Yes"
answers to questions that weren't asked is a common telemarketing
scheme.
Michelle said the ad had already “gone to print" and that there would be
fees to cancel since they had already spent money on it. I replied to Michelle
that there was no printing
costs since it was posted on the web. The minimum fee she
offered was for me to pay $150.00 for six months for an ad I did not want,
order, or need.
When my employee came in, I asked her what happened. She said the offer was for
a one month free web
site
trial. When Michelle called again, I relayed
what my employee told me and Michelle replied that they do not give free trials
and offered to play the tape to me again. I told her I didn't need to listen to
the tape again, I was still in the one month free
trial
and that I was canceling the trial. She said
I couldn't do that and said she was trying to work out a settlement price. I
told her the final offer was zero dollars and zero cents and terminated the
call.
Just for grins, I went to their web site and they had my company listed,
however, none of the links worked. Since then, they have added a link to
my
website. I keep hoping they will remove the listing for my
company but so far they haven't.

In February 2009 I received a phone call from a
very fast talking sales
person from 411yellowpagedirect.com. She asked if I was an authorized agent to
purchase for my business. I said yes. She then asked me to verify my address and
phone number. Then she asked if my authorization was sufficient for the invoice
and I said yes it was. She then said I would be receiving the invoice within 30
days and gave me a confirmation number for the call. I was fully expecting to
receive an invoice that I could review the charges and deny them at that time. I
did not receive this invoice until July with a letter attached saying that if it
was not paid it would be sent to collections.
I called the company to explain what happened but they continuously said that I
approved the invoice over the phone.
I have received these types of calls before and am very careful to not approve
purchasing items over the phone. I was never given the opportunity to accept or
deny the charges.
This type of business practice is very underhanded (as I told them). I am so
frustrated by this entire situation.

Scott Barth and Philip
McGahey are two very good con artists
when it comes to selling the alleged 'online marketing services' by
Yellowpages.com. These guys will lie and tell you whatever they think you want
to hear in order to make the sale.
I have a witness in the meeting
where they came into our offices and promised
us thousands of leads for our business. After more than 1 month they delivered
just 1!
Yellowpages.com has apparently, out of desperation to compete with the likes of
google, trains
their sales people to lie, cheat, steal,
whatever they can do to convince the 'customer' to sign on the dotted line.
Their program is designed around deception and false promises. Scott Barth and
Phil McGahey of Yellowpages.com, Yellow Pages Internet
marketing,
etc. have the business model of dinosaurs. In other words, when you have an
inferior product or service, do whatever it takes, including misrepresenting
your service, hell lie if you have to, just lock
businesses
into 1 year contracts.
Think about this - if their service was any good, people would naturally
continue doing business with them without being forced to stay in a long term
arrangement that they coerce people into...
Stay away from these liars con artists, what have you, beware of
yellowpages.com!!!

I have experienced the same
thing as the others have mentioned about the Company!
I received a phone
call just to confirm our address, phone, fax, etc. for a previous listing that
we supposedly authorized. I get so many calls like this and have learned to ask
for proof of my signed authorization. Usually the caller hangs up and I don't
hear from them again. But this company is EXTREMELY ridiculous! They play the
notorious recording of our previous 'Verbal' authorization. Trying to explain
that you were only updating your information - the caller is very defensive and
rude. I actually hung
up on them a couple of times - but they just keep calling.
Someone needs to do something about this!!! I checked the website - our
information is totally incorrect - doesn't even match what I told them on the
phone!!! I now have a FAXED invoice
which offers a $30.00 rebate if I pay over
the phone with a credit card. I have no record of paying for this service - and
trust me I keep all my records!!
I am not paying - they can do what they want - I will not
support
this scam!!

We signed up with yellowpages.com gave them a year
to boost business they told us they would be getting more of the internet market
away from google and yahoo and never did. they only have 2% of the market ,and
we never really got any phone calls off their add ,and we complained about it to
them ,they did nothing about it. they said their is no guarantees. we where
paying $ 400.00 month. and now they are putting it on are credit they are not reputable.
beware we have since then put adds on (((competitor's name rejected))) for half
the price and we have 20 times more success.
